The Graduation Program in Modeling and Quantitative Methods (PPGMMQ, to the acronym in Portuguese) at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) aims to train and enhance professionals committed to advancing interdisciplinary knowledge. The program is designed to prepare graduates for teaching and research activities to meet the needs of the national university system, as well as for engaging in the job market in companies that require professionals with the profile of PPGMMQ graduates.
The course will expose students to various theoretical and practical aspects of Data Science and Operations Research, providing them with broad and qualified knowledge. This will equip them to tackle complex problems using methodologies from these areas. A graduate of the master’s or doctoral program will be qualified to teach courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engage in professional activities that require skills in modeling and solving real-world problems using technical or scientific methods, as well as coordinate or participate in development, research, and technological innovation projects. Additionally, the master’s graduate should be prepared to pursue doctoral studies in these or related fields.
We also aim to strengthen connection with regional companies willing to invest in research and development, demonstrating a strong scientific inclination and offering relevant research problems that result in projects and partnerships.
In addition to recruting graduates from undergraduate courses in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science, PPGMMQ also aims to fully accommodate graduates from related fields (such as Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Science and Technology, among others) who show a clear interest in interdisciplinary training focused on the integration of basic and applied sciences.
