Professor Rafael Bráz Azevedo Farias is graduated in Statistics (2004, Magna Cum Laude) and specialized in University Management (2022) from the Federal University of Ceará, earned a Master’s degree (2007) and a Ph.D. (2012) in Statistics from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo (IME-USP). His Master’s and Ph.D. studies were under the supervision of Professor Márcia D’Elia Branco. He completed a sandwich Ph.D. internship abroad at the University of Connecticut, United States, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dipak Dey, with support from FAPESP. He was a Credit Risk Analyst at Banco Bradesco in 2011 and 2012. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics and Applied Mathematics at the Federal University of Ceará (DEMA-UFC) and a permanent researcher in the graduate program in Modeling and Quantitative Methods (MMQ) at UFC. He has experience in the field of Statistical Modeling and Data Science, mainly working on the following topics: Regression Models, Bayesian Inference, Computational Statistics, and Higher Education Evaluation and Management. He was the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Statistics course (2016), Director of the Division of Graduation Indicators and Statistical Records (2017-2019), Coordinator of the Planning, Information, and Communication Office (2019-2023) of the Dean’s Office for Graduation/UFC, and Coordinator of SiSU at UFC (2019-2023). Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Committee on Psychometrics of the Directorate of Higher Education Evaluation at INEP/MEC, where he contributes to improving the processes of higher education evaluation in Brazil.
